So I know I should be excited about the fact that I am 12 weeks pg today, but I am feeling worried. My next OB appt is on 3/23, 11 days from now and all I can think is that when I go in, he will tell me something is wrong. For example, I keep picturing the doctor telling me the baby stopped growing at some point, how morbid is that? I haven't had any cramping (except the normal, mild kind I am supposed to get) and there has been no bleeding, so my mind is trying to freak me out with all the bad things that could happen. I need to knwo for my own peace of mind, how common IS a missed miscarriage? Is it something I really should be worried about? My first two appts. were great, we saw the HB and at the last appt. the baby was wiggling all over the place. I don't know why I am so freaked out now.
Thanks
Jessica

Jessica - I know how you feel, I don't think the nervousness ever went away for me!
You are freaked out because you are normal. We all feel that way. We think there is some point where we should be passed it, but sometimes it takes a while. Quite a few of us find comfort in renting/buying a doppler. Then we can listen to our baby whenever we feel nervous. I am 18 weeks and finally don't worry all the time...
Vent here.
Ask your questions.
Bring your fears.
Drink lots of water, and know that you are passed the danger point- 12 weeks is SUPER! And take comfort in knowing you say the HB. It's very rare for anything to happen now.

Jessica,
Having these feelings are very normal and understandable. I know that I had the same feelings at every appointment and I still get worried at 33weeks. You just have to keep the faith that everything is going to be fine. I was told my doctor that once you saw a strong heart beat at 8 weeks PG then your chances of miscarriage drop to below 2%. So please keep that in mind!
jessica -
both of my m/c's have been missed but they were both caught at or before 10 weeks. i think i read somewhere that ~20% of m/c are missed? but i could be totally off.
my first m/c i saw the HB at 8 weeks and then lost it at 9 weeks. w/ my next baby, things went great (saw HB and 8 and 10 weeks) - and after my 10 week appointment, i think i remember my OB saying that my chance of having a m/c dropped to like 1% or something. of course i was still nervous but i saw a very healthy baby at 12 weeks and went on to deliver my awesome son. (my next m/c was 6mths ago at 8.5 weeks, saw no HB and sac measured 7)
point is - sounds like you have made it much farther along than i did with both of my missed m/cs. if you had a good u/s appt at 10 weeks, that is a GREAT sign - at the 10 week u/s with my son, my doc pretty much told me that we were pretty much past the scare of the 1T miscarriage. so try to stay positive cuz you got 6 more months to get through (i should take that advice myself)!

Oh sweetie, don't worry. What you're feeling and thinking isn't morbid.
