hi all -

i went in this morning and we saw a HB. it was measuring 116bpm - i looked it up online and it say 90-110 at 6-7 weeks so i think im good. so thanks for all the good vibes!!

of course, being my psycho self - i couldn't be completely happy. they measured the baby at 6w1 day, but i am supposed to be 7 weeks (i know b/c i used an OPK too). the doc assured me that the degree of measurement error at this early phase is high (1 week +/-) and that im in the normal range. i know if the tech had shifted her mouse 1mm over, it probably would have added a few days.

so, more optimisitc but still cautious i guess! ug - this feels like SUCH a long haul.

Katrina!!
That is wonderful!! A hb is amazing!! I am sure your doctor would not have misled you but I TOTALLY understand not wanting to get too excited. I wish I was going in earlier for an ultrasound. I have to wait 2 more weeks. I get to rely on the dreaded Monday blood draws...those days are scary. Hang in there. That is wonderful news. I've been thinking about ya!! Take care

Katrina-

Try not to worry (but i know i would be if i didnt know this). First my 6 and 7 week u/s's i was 1-2 days behind. Then at my 8 i was right on. Then at my 9 week one she measured the babe and it was 9.1 and i was 9.4 so i asked her to remeasure and she got it right on. She told me that she could even go a little further and probably get to 9.6! So the measurements are just so wacky, it could be the person meauring it, the way the baby is positioned ect.

So psyched you have a wonderful HB.

Wishing you all the best!

Katrina,

Congratulations on the wonderful heart beat!! Your doctor is 100% right about the measurements!! Your tech could have moved the wand just a little and the measurements could have been on exactly. Just keep the positive thoughts going and know that your baby is going to be fine!!

thanks for all the good thoughts guys.

torri, that helps to hear about the range of readings at your weekly ultrasounds so thx for that.

and keli - am i right that you are heading in at your 8 week mark? in some ways, it was definitely nice to have the ultrasound early - but having had it done, i can see why a lot of places want to wait until 8 weeks (i got my u/s done yesterday at the infertility clinic, my OB refuses to do them before 8 weeks assuming all goes okay before that). i think its because a lot of times, the heartbeat doesn't even develop until 6.5-7 weeks (or you can't see it), and then you run across issues like mine where baby is reading 5 days off which probably is causing me a bit of undue stress. and by 8 weeks, they are more sure of what they are seeing and w/ your HCG readings, it sounds like for you it will be a very strong HB!
