So we are back to the labs to get the bloodwork. What are you ladies getting checked for and how often? I'm at 4 weeks, 4 days.

I had my miscarriage in December and I had to tell my doctor I wanted to get checked for progestrone levels? Why didn't they suggest it? At first the lady on the phone said I can just come in and do a urine test, but I was like....ah...I had a recent miscarriage. I did the urine tests, I need to know what my levels are to compare later on. They then added an anitbody test (I'm not sure what that is) and another screen, so I have four things I got checked for but I have to wait until Monday to see the results.

How are things going with your doctors? The first trimester is SOOOO LONG.

We moved, and the office here wouldn't see me early unless I had had multiple miscarriages. So, I just stuck to the regular schedule the OB's office suggested.

Most consider one loss to make you no more high risk than any other pregnancy. I had originally called and asked for bloodwork, and they simply said they didn't do that. The doctors are highly rated, and I didn't have a lot of other options. But I'm okay with my decision to stay with this doctor.

I would have been a wreck going in from day one. I managed to stay sane until 9 weeks when I had my blood drawn, etc, and I have my first sonogram and we'll hear the heartbeat on Monday.

Some folks go in once a week, some are like me, or some doctors let you go in when you want to to make yourself feel better.

You may need to continue to be a bit more aggressive to get the support you need.

I think one miscarriage is high risk! That's crazy! My one daughter came 4 weeks early and that only had put me in the high risk category before the miscarriage.

I wish there was a more standard set of procedures to follow when a woman has a miscarriage--blood test to check levels as soon as a BFP is obtained, follow that up in four days, etc.

Seems like every doctor is SO differant, always pros and cons with all of them.

Hi Vienna
I had 2 m/c in about 9mos and this time my dr said she would have me come in every week until my 8wk u/s to get blood drawn to be sure my numbers kept rising. (my last m/c was missed). At my u/s we heard the h/b but we still had worries b/c we saw the h/b with the last m/c and still something went wrong. She then had me come in weekly for an ultrasound just to ease my mind. I am now at 13wks and my next appointment will be the 16wk. I would ask your doctor to do something similar b/c I never would have kept my sanity. I still feel worried a lot but I have learned to manage it and keep it with God. Whatever you decide, I hope it works for you. Good luck...I am sure all will turn out wonderful :)
