when can you feel the baby?

I'm 12w4d, and i just tried out my new doppler and couldn't find a hb (i have a tilted uterus, so maybe that affects it?). i'm not too worried, just a little disappointed. anyway, my question is, when can i start feeling the baby? i can't feel anything distinctive right now...my next appt is june 18 and i am getting anxious waiting for it!!
thanks,
Najah

Hi Najah
I have three DDs and it was different with everyone of them. I felt my first - and actually SAW movement - at 14 weeks but I think that is unusually early. I was skinny as a rail back then and I know the placentia was toward my back so that may have all been part of it. With my other two DDs I felt movement later than that - by several weeks. So I guess it depends on a lot of things. Hang in there - it is reassuring when you feel movement.

I felt (and saw it too on the oustide of my belly!) my first DS at 19wks, which I think is pretty average for first-timers. I felt my second DS at 15wks mostly because I knew what the baby flutters felt like and could recognize them earlier.
I think the "normal" range is somewhere between 15-20wks but I could be wrong. I wouldn't worry at all if you can't feel anything at this stage or even several weeks from now. With a first baby it's often much later before you feel definite kicks. And the books are totally right - the early flutters and "quickening" feels very similar to gas, so it's hard to really tell until later on when the kicks are stronger and more pronounced.

Hello Najah,
I first felt my DD moving around 18 and 19 weeks. It is such an amazing feeling and I can't wait to
Najah,
I felt movement with my DD at 14 weeks, which is pretty early, but I was very thin. I really started to feel ALOT of movement at 18 weeks. Don't worry about the doppler. I hear sometimes that you can't hear the hb until 14 weeks with some of them. Having a tilted uterus could affect it as well.

Dear Najah,
I disagree with most of the posters, and will tell you that you might not feel anything until about 20 weeks or later. http://www.amazingpregnancy.com/pregnancy-articles/121.html "You should begin to actually feel this sometime between 16 and 26 weeks."
AS for your doppler, try again and again. A 12 week old fetus is pretty small and hard to detect. Check VERY low- almost in the hairline. Check out: http://www.fetaldopplerfacts.org/facts/dopplers/fetal-heartbeat-doppler-sounds.php

I had a hard time when I got my doppler at 12 1/2 wks-- and I have a tipped uterus too. It took me on average 30-45 minutes that week to find it. A week later? I could find it within about 5 minutes. Now at 15 1/2 wks? Almost instantly.
And movement? I asked my doc-- she said most first timers definitively feel real movement between 18-22 weeks. Some may feel it earlier, but may mistake gas for it, or vice versa.
Her advice was to watch the movement at my 20 week ultrasound, and then match it up with what i'm feeling, and I'll know for sure.
I THINK I have felt some flutters, but I can't be sure it was anything other than my stomach digesting something! heheheh.
Hi Najah!
I had to chime in because I posted nearly this same question a little while ago.
