What gives?

Given my history shouldn't I be seen earlier?

Maybe you could just flat out tell them you want to come in for some HCG draws and progesterone? Sometimes you have to tell the docs what to do. Just a thought. Hugs to you! I'm so happy....

I had my first appt at 7 weeks. But there was no u/s or anything just paper work and blood work. I felt shafted also. I too have had m/c. My first u/s is monday and I will be 10w 4d. So I asked the doctor why so long and she said if you are going to lose this one too nothing can stop it so most doctors wait until you are close to 12 weeks before they will see......nice huh? Oh well monday is the big day and it has been a LONG wait!
good luck!

Sweetie... Sending out some hugs!!! I know with me I didn't see my OB until I was around 12 weeks along.

This whole waiting thing sucks....unfortunately it's "normal"! I'm seeing an RE and they are watching me 'closely' until 10 weeks at which time I will be released to make an appointment with my OB...I'm sure a few weeks later. However the 'closely' only included 2 HCG blood draws, since they looked good I am now having U/S to check growth and hb every two weeks. So no actual prenatal until probably 12 weeks, and that's being watched closely. Just waiting the 2 weeks from my first u/s is KILLING me, so I can imagine how anxious you feel.

I'd call your doctor and tell them just how nervous you are because of your history of m/c. Ask for, at the very least, HCG blood draws so you can see that your numbers are doubling beautifully. That should also tell you where your progesteron is...if it's then too low ask for supplements. You may want to even request an early u/s at 6 or 7 weeks to see the hb. If they refuse to do any of this, I'd find another doctor. You want someone who is willing to proactively work for you and your baby.

HTH. Good luck!

Hi there Monica :) I'm sorry to hear that you have to wait so long. When I called my dr office, they were just going to make my appt for sometime in week 8. I had to ask to have the nurse call me back to do early blood draws. They got me scheduled for those, and that helped ease my mind a lot since my levels were doubling. Like the others said, I would definitely ask if you can at least get in for blood tests. Let us know what happens, ok?

Congrats again!

I completely agree with the pps - sometimes you just have to tell them what you need. My dr. was good about getting me in pretty early for an appt., but I had to ask for hcg draws before then, just to make sure everything was going OK. As long as they can do something to reassure you, it shouldn't matter that you're not seeing the doc - he doesn't have to be there to take blood or even for the u/s.

I can see why you are so anxious to be seen..I was, too. I was seeing an RE who monitored me closely before releasing me to a regular OB at 9wks. But the way my regular OB does things..they were never going to connect me with any major fertility stuff so they aren't very proactive. There's a big difference between the specialists and the regular OB's and it seems like the regular OB's you really have to stomp your feet and make a lot of calls to get what you need..ask a lot of questions. It's your body and baby so you can make a little noise getting what you need.

Isn't that crazy. I had the same thing at four different OB offices. PALs should have a special express lane at every OB in the nation. I just kept calling and asking if there were any cancellations or just to see a nurse for bloodwork. I finally got in and the doctor was available and did an u/s for me and seeing the heartbeat was so great and reassuring. So just keep calling and good luck .

Hi! Good to see a familiar face in here from the TTCAM board!

I will have my first appointment too on August 17 (almost 12 weeks and I lied I said my LMP was 5 days before because I knew they would put my 1st appoitment around 12-13 weeks. Theorically I'll be exactely 11 weeks.

Hang in there! You are NOT alone
