If you ordered one- when did you get it? I don't want to rent mine too early and not hear something and totally freak out because I don't hear something and I don't hear something because it's too early for me to have ordered a doppler in the first place so then I am lying there holding a probe, not hearing anything and crying and

I couldn't easily pick up a HB until about 13 weeks. I was at about 12 and it took me almost 45 minutes. I was laying on the couch with the silly thing, playing the sample CD in my computer on the coffee table, completely contorted and getting frustrated. It was not pretty!!! I would hold out until at least 12 weeks to try-- even then, be patient. It is amazing how fast it goes from being hard to find a HB to being able to stick the wand on your tummy and instantly hearing it. But it can be more stressful and heartbreaking when you can't easily find it than it is worth in the beginning. Patience is the key!!

I can totally relate to how you're feeling. I got my doppler last week when I was 10w,5d and I heard it that day. I waited to order it until after I had heard the heartbeat with the doppler at my doctor's office though. I'd recommend waiting until you're at least 10-11 weeks and/or after your doctor finds the heartbeat with a doppler. Like some of the other posters mentioned, babybeat.com is great. I love mine and it relieves so much anxiety. Of course if you try to use one too soon it can add stress rather than reduce it (which a PAL definitely doesn't want or need) so
