doppler rental?

I noticed a few people talking about renting a doppler. I won't be ready for one for a while (only at 4 weeks) but, would like some info about them. I always wanted one with previous pregnancies but, dh was not real keen on the idea. Since our last pregnancy was a loss though, I think I will get one, even if he's not real happy about it.

I'm just wondering, where's the best place to get one, exactly how early will it work (about 12 weeks, right?), etc. Also, I think I read somewhere that you have to get a prescription from the dr to rent/buy one, is this correct? If so, are most doctors willing to just write the script or has anyone had a hassle getting them to do it? Any info would be appreciated.

Hi,

Most people rent them from Babybeat.

I rented one from BabyBeat (www.babybeat.com). I really like it. They have several different ones--ones that record, ones that display the beats per minute, etc. I didn't get the one that displays the beats per minute and that has worked out fine for me. It's been pretty easy to count the beats myself. It costs about $30/month. You don't need a prescription, but it does ask for your doctor's name on the order form. I got mine at about ten and a half weeks and was able to

With babybeat you just have to enter your doctor's information. I would do a month to month rental no earlier than 12 weeks. Might want to wait for 13 weeks just to be sure.

It is a tremendous tool for peace of mind.
