Congratulations on a great appointment! I am also worried about my weight, but I don't know exact numbers yet. I look huge though for 13 1/2 weeks. Yikes! Last time I gained 65 pounds, and my doctor NEVER said anything to me about the gain! I think it's crazy! I think all they care about is a healthy baby. It sure isn't easy to lose the weight though.

Jen glad to hear it went well. Don't stress about the weight gain.

Congrats on the great appointment - sounds as if all is well :) My weight gain is way too much too...my OB also says he's never given anyone a lecture about weight - if you're hungry, eat!

Thank you ladies! I really felt horrible to admit just how much, but what the heck, that's what this board is for, to speak what you might not be able to out loud.

Hi Jen,
great to hear that your ultrasound went so well.
You know, I am sorry you are worried about your weight but Thank You for posting something on that. I have the same problem so you can understand that it feels so good to know that I am not alone and to calm down reading Tiffany´s success story.
I will be 16 weeks in a couple of days and am already over 13 Ibs more. I could see myself getting heavier early on and talked to my midwife about it (when I was 10 weeks). She did not seemed worried at all, just said that women are different. But then again my mom told me she was 115 Ibs when she got pregnant and she went in for the delivery at 122 Ibs (she suffered very bad MS throughout the whole pregnancy). So her story did not help me much at all.
DH and I are keen on healthy lifestyle so I do not get much (if any) bad food but what can I do, I feel hungry all the time.
So Jen, I hope you are not worried but stick to healthy food choices. After the delivery, we all join Jessica´s idea for a weight loss thread and help each other out in getting back in shape.

Jen, I'm glad you had a great appointment! I don't get the whole uterus size thing either. I've heard that at 20 weeks it's supposed to be right at your navel, but mine at 17 weeks was just barely below it. By 20 weeks I'm guessing it will be above it! I also wondered how that all works. As for the weight gain, I personally think that your body will gain what it needs to, and as long as you try to eat as healthy as possible, you'll be fine! I have a girlfriend who has always been really skinny, and she's about 5'5". She packed on 35 pounds during her pregnancy and it was ALL gone within a month after giving birth. Now she is as skinny as ever, and you cannot tell she ever had a baby. I was also concerned at my 17 week appointment as I had only gained about 3-4 pounds, but they waved it off as no big deal, I guess since baby seems to be doing fine.

My anatomy scan is also on the 30th - how cool that we have it on the same day!

So the induction is due to the kidney issue? That's neat that you already know when his birthday will be (assuming he doesn't show up early to his own party!).

pregnancy week by week

Melissa - 38

DH - 38

DD - Almost 2!

Jen, it is such a great idea about one hour exercise each day. Do you go to a gym/train at home? I really hope it would be easy for you to keep it up and have fun with it.
I train at a gym min 3 times per week (I take group classes -spinning, body shape and aerobics) and try to have longer walks the rest of the days. It certainly does not help me lose weight but I hope it would keep me in shape for the delivery and as you say, help to take off the extra pounds after that.
It is interesting to hear that your grandma was a dress maker. How cool. If you could record her stories one day and send them to me I would be so happy to listen :-) Nice of you to say I looked good on the picture, sleepy DH took it for me when I finished the dress some time after midnight..
I think it is great that Melissa and you have your anatomy scan on the same day. I wish you both fantastic results. We will be travelling that day for our vacation but I´ll try to check in later and see how it went for both of you.
Lovely weekend, Vellia
