25 week appt

I had my 25 week OB appointment + gestational diabetes screen today, and everything went well. We heard the baby's HB again and she was quite active today. My Dh thought it was hysterical when they whipped out a measuring tape to measure my bump! In previous appointments, they'd always just felt around for it. This time I just had to take a deep breath while they pressed around my abdominal area and then measured my uterus.

The gestational diabetes test wasn't too bad. I should get results by early next week. I drank the glucola at home. I had kept it in the fridge since my OB had mentioned it should taste better cold. It tasted like flat orange soda - not as horrible as I expected. I didn't throw up or get nauseous, but I definitely felt like something was "off" in my body - I think all that sugar was a bit shocking to my system! Then after a while, it wore off and now I just feel tired. I had to butt my way to the front of the line at the lab. I was like, I drank my glucola at 7:45 and I need my blood drawn NOW! LOL. They let me go right back and get it done. All in all, it wasn't bad at all.

Good to know it wasn't too bad. I made the appointment for mine at the end of Sept (they let me schedule now since I'll be back in school) and gave me the stuff to take home. I can't tolerate sweets and sugar now so I can imagine that drinking that stuff is going to be less than awesome.

Glad everything was looking good!

Great news, Melissa. I am happy that everything goes well for the three of you. Did the glucola make your little girl move a lot? That is totally irrelevant but I am curious how the small ones react to it. Again, congratulations on a good appointment and good luck with the test results,

Hi Vellia,

It sure did make her move! I had my OB appointment right after my blood draw, and while they were listening to her with the Doppler, they said "baby sure is having a good time in there". I was like, she should be after that big sugar rush! LOL.

Glad to hear everything was looking good! I can't remember drinking that stuff with dd.. funny how the memory fades.. although I must have I guess? I've never been measured before either! I always saw it on the baby shows, and wondered why they never measure at my OB's.. oh well!

Congrats on the great appointment! We're really moving along now, aren't we???

My ob's is like Jen's - they'll have me drink the "stuff" in the lab, have my appointment, then return to the lab for the blood draw. Glad to hear it's not TOO bad!

Again, great news about your little girl!!
