36 Week Appointment and DH Update
22
Mon, 12-03-2007 - 3:21pm

Just got back from my 36 week appointment. I had my GBS test and she did an internal-I am only about a fingertip dilated and my cervix is still long. Ugh-I was hoping to be a little further than that with all the BHCs that I have been having for 3 weeks! She said that if I haven't given birth by the 18th (38 weeks 1 day) she will strip my membranes. So hopefully in a little over 2 weeks I will have Caitlin in my arms! I hope so!

As for things with DH...they are going great! It was touch and go there for a while. I am still in counseling by myself and he's still on the Lexapro and his script is up in 2 weeks. 3 night ago he came home with flowers, apologized for being so awful the last 2 months, and held me for a really long time. The next night he came home with MORE flowers! He has put his wedding ring back on and has been rubbing my back and feet at night, and being very attentive. Also, lots of text messages and phone calls when he's a work just to say he loves me. He has been much better with Madeline and not losing his temper so much with her. I am cautiously optimistic about this whole turn around. I know things don't just turn around over night, especially since he's on the wrong meds...but it's nice to have the old Jim back-the Jim that I married. I knew I wasn't that dumb to marry a guy that would ever treat me like that! So hopefully, we are on the up and up here and we don't see another outburst or relapse.

HUGS AND BELLY RUBS TO ALL! :)

That is so great that things are going well with DH!! I will keep sending P&PT that things continue "on the up and up".

I'm glad things are so much better with your DH, and that everything is going well with the baby, too.

Did you doctor say why she would try to "speed things" up at 38 weeks? Just because of schedules/the holidays or for some other reason? Just curious because I am due 1/9, but would love to deliver by 12/31, though I doubt my dr will do anything proactive for me - just doesn't seem to her usual procedure, though I plan to ask at my 36 week appt next week...

She wants to try and speed things up because we aren't exactly around the corner from the hospital. We're about 45 minutes w/o traffic and live in Southern California, so the traffic is terrible most of the day! I had a very fast labor with Madeline and she is afraid that if I wait to long and then get caught in traffic, I will have the baby in the car on the side of the freeway! LOL! Also, she knows having a baby on Christmas day sucks...so she is trying to work with us. Maybe you're doctor will work with you too. Our hospital has a policy where they wont induce before 39 weeks (unless you prove lung maturity with an amnio)...you may want to ask about your hospitals policy as well. Stripping of the membranes I guess is a good "alternative" option-however I am NOT looking forward to that! I hear it's awful! I am going to try some foot reflexology in my 38th week too! Hope you have a 2007 baby! I don't know if you shop at Target....I got Caitlin this little onesie that says "Tax Deduction" on it...it's hilarious! Hope she gets to wear it! Ha ha!

Meagan:

I grew up in Brea. Now I'm in Placentia - didn't move too far obviously! Your OB is kinda far

Hi Andrea,

Yeah, I am delivering in South County. At Saddleback Memorial in Laguna Hills. It's a hike-especially with traffic. That's why my OB is going to strip membranes/induce in about 2-3 weeks just so I don't give birth on the side of the 91 on Friday at 5 pm! LOL! Where is St. Jude? Is that the one in Yorba Linda?

Bummer... we were going to rent in Placentia, but it didn't work out (Arbor Lane townhomes). Even still, you're only about 20-25 minutes from Chino Hills. Maybe after the babies are born we can get together? I know NO ONE out here in this vicinity with kids! When we lived in South County (about a year and a half ago...then moved to Palm Springs) I didn't meet too many other moms because I was working, and we only lived there for a short time. Do you work? I am a SAHM right now, but thinking about volunteering or going to work one or two days a week after Caitlin is born! Going crazy in the house all day w/o any adult interaction! Dh works 14 hour days.

Feel free to email me through my profile! I can't believe we are due so close together! :)
