34week update ... bedrest...ugh

First I want to again apologize for not being around as much lately. I had been really concentrating on trying to get everything at work prepared for maternity leave, then exhausted by the time I was getting home in the evenings. I was still lurking some, trying to make sure everyone was okay.

It's a good thing I'd been working so hard on finalizing my work early because as of today I was put on modified bedrest. The past three weeks my bp has been a bit high. Last week I did the 24-hr pee test and blood work and all of that looked good. Well, what a difference a week makes...yesterday protein was present for the first time. It was only 116 (they worry at 300) but it's the first time I wasn't negative. So I can do some things in moderation ... like sit at the computer for a bit at a time, go out to dinner, etc. But I'm supposed to be horizontal the majority of the time. Fun, fun...

I'm sure many of you know this but with the antiphospholipid antibodies I have an increased risk for full-blown toxemia. So that's my worst-case scenario. I go to the OB 2x's per week now to watch. If that happens I'll deliver Chase immediately. The next scenario is that I'll maintain the preg-induced hypertension and they'll let him stay in there for 3 more weeks then I'll deliver. Or this could resolve itself with bedrest...which is what I'm hoping for. Though, I didn't find out if I get to go back to work if that happens....that's what I would like. I really want as much time with him after delivery as possible. Each day eats away at the time I get with my baby. But it is worthwhile if I keeps him healthy.

Candace -

I'm sorry you have to be on bedrest, but I hope it works and the BP and protein resolve themselves!

Hello Candace,

I'm so sorry you are on bedrest, but I'm glad you can still do things in moderation. It sounds like your OB is taking very good care of you and Chase. I hope everything resolves itself. ((HUGS))

Oh, Candace, I'm sorry - especially that this is taking time away from your leave after Chase is here. Hopefully getting some rest this week will resolve the situation, it sounds like you've been working too hard anyway! I'll be thinking about you!

hi Candace,

Sorry to hear that you're on bedrest. That is a bummer. The good part is that Chase (love that name!) is already 34 weeks and it sounds like very healthy!

take care,
Karen
