I agree with the PP's. That nurse had no right to make you feel guilty about not working out. She's not pregnant...she's not YOU! You're doing just what your body needs...resting when you're sick!
Don't you for one second doubt your strength and ability to give birth. Our bodies are made to do it, and the best thing you can do is learn to relax and let go of the stress. If you can relax, and let your body "go with the flow" and not fight it, you'll be fine. I can tell you that when I was pg with DD, I didn't exercise AT ALL! (I'm lazy too!) and I was able to deliver her vaginally with an epi and she was 9 lbs 11 oz! YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO THIS! And in the long run, it makes no difference how your baby comes into this world...with drugs or without, induced or c-section, you are only a few short weeks from becoming a mother and holding your little on in your arms!
Shake off that bad appt and remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Take it easy!
Oh, honey, sending huge hugs. That nurse had NO BUSINESS saying that to someone who's 9 months pg (or anyone else, for that matter). You have been a perfect pg mommy throughout this pregnancy, and if you need to rest now, you do it. You'll need it!
As for the giving birth part, it will be the most wonderful day no matter how your big surprise comes into your life. I can't speak for the no intervention part, since I was always planning on getting an epidural, but I can tell you that I was able to wait a LOT longer than I thought I would. You are stronger than you think!
Oh Andrea! I think that all women go through this with some degree or another. I myself had a freak out moment after watching the birthing videos at the child birth class, and then when I got home I started crying in the bathroom all by myself. The nurse was way off track and should have never talked to you about that stuff; it made you feel that you were less of women for not feeling up to working out. You also have plenty of time to get checked and honestly the getting checked at the doctor’s office hurt more than the birth!
It's okay Andrea. You're going to do beautifully. Your body is made to do this. What your mind is not made for is to listen to someone tell you something sooooooo ridiculous! Forget her. I would have clammed up, too.
I had my first DS in Japan and they told me everyday how fat I was and how the baby was going to get stuck inside because of all of the weight that I was gaining. Well, I proved them wrong. I did gain 60 pounds, much to their chagrin, but the baby came out, unassisted, unmedicated in less than 6 hours. So there!! You can totally do this!!!!!! You're so close now. The baby's in the right position, your body is getting ready. Great proof that your body is getting ready for this. Have confidence in that.
I'm sorry that happened, Andrea. Sending big hugs your way ...
I agree with all of the pps ... your nurse AND doctor sounded way off base and rude with their comments. Please try to shake it off and ignore what they said. Of course feeling tense and

Alright, I want that woman's phone number so I can call her at 3:30 a.m. tomorrow morning and say "Get your fat $&#$* out of bed and get busy.
First off, that nurse is lucky you didn't smack her!
