Everything you are feeling is totally normal for a PAL. We lost 3 before having my DD this past June. Two of our losses were later in the pregnancies so we were super nervous with DD's pregnancy. I started to feel more comfortable with that pregnancy after we hit 24 weeks. I had goals for us to hit...first 24 weeks because that is what doctors consider viability, then 28 weeks because by 28 weeks, if born, a baby has like a 95% survival rate. Once we hit 28 weeks, our next goal was 32 weeks. Well, DD decided to come at 28 weeks 3 days and she is just fine now at 10 months. Even tho I was feeling more comfortable with that pregnancy at 24 weeks, we didn't buy anything for her. Then, when she came early, we didn't need anything for her right away because she had to spend a while in the NICU. My baby shower for her was after she was born, so we got alot of clothes and diapers and small toys and stuff like that. To be honest, she still doesn't have anything large. She has a crib which was bought when I was pregnant with one of the losses.

This pregnancy has been completely different. We did not realize I was pregnant at all until just before Christmas. Because DD was born soo early she had alot of different doctor appts. after she came home. Her feeding schedule was extremely demanding and DH and I were both soo tired we weren't paying attention to anyting else. I was 20 weeks pregnant by the time I POAS!! Anyways, we haven't had any problems with this pregnancy at all.

As for naming this baby... We always name our babies a little early on. All of our losses have names...and actually 2 of them have birth certificates because of how late they were born. So, while we name our babies early on, we never ever tell anyone the names that we've picked out.

I hope this helps you feel a little better. We all totally understand how your feeling. Big (((hugs))) to you.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

If it was up to me I would have decorated and started buying things right away. However, my DH was scared and made me wait. I was scared too but I didn't want to live my life in fear. We had already purchased the crib and changing table at around 16 weeks with our first baby (We lost her at 20 weeks due to PROM). I started buying things and prepairing around 24 weeks. Once we knew we were at the point where the baby could be saved. We purchased the car seat and other big things after 30 weeks. All the clothes n' things were purchased after 24 weeks.

Hope this helps!

Do it when YOU feel comfortable. I was very uncomfortable in my pregnancy so I wanted to get as much done before I got too far along. Zaki was pushing on my cervix all the time and I had a lot of ligament pain. Also, my placenta was growing through my uterus and that caused major discomfort. So I wanted to do it while I was still semi-comfortable!

Good luck!

I am one of the people who mentions my fears of "jinxing" this pregnancy the most LOL However, I have finally broke down and started purchasing things....our crib matress arrived yesterday, we have the changing table and the bedding and crib should be here soon. We have even started remodeling the room that will be the nursery...and we have a name! So, just wanted to let you know that if I can take the big step....so can you my friend!!!!! LOL It's still very scary but I think you will know when the time is right, good luck and I say, GO AHEAD!!!!!! :)

Hi Angela,
