Ugh...early bleeding...

Hi all,

I have been on Alesse for a while, a year I think. I've been on some pill for almost 7 years. This month, I started my period a week early, with a week of active pills left. Tomorrow would start my inactive pills and I think the bleeding is winding down. Should I continue with the inactive pills in this pack or start a new pack tomorrow? Is this early period going to increase my chances of getting pregnant if I wait another week to start a new pack like my normal schedule would be?

Thanks!

If you have been taking your pulls correctly; on time, not been sick and vomited or had diarrhea with in 2 hrs. of taking your pill, or been taking meds or supplements that could reduce the effectiveness of your pills, then you should be ok and the bleeding shouldn’t affect your protection. If I were you I’d continue the 21/7 regimen taking the placebos and beginning the next pack of active pills 7 days later. Have you made any changes in your exercise or diet, gone low carb or begun taking large doses of vitamin C in the last week that could account for your break-through-bleeding?

Good luck.

Hi Jill,

Thanks for your help. I started low-carbing about three weeks ago, but this is not the first time I've done it and it has never caused this kind of thing before. I do have some other issues that caused me to have to switch pills 6 times in one year and have a laparoscopy. It's actually something that makes me have more pain and bleeding when I'm on stronger pills and less when the pills are weaker. Very strange, I know. My doctor didn't actualy believe me at first. Anyway, I'm usually ok on the Alesse, I've just never been this early before.

Thanks again!
