i'm just started taking birth control pills (first time) last month (alesse) and i'm having some problems..

here's my story..

i started taking the pills jan 11th, a sunday. after that pack, my period came on wednesday the 4th of feb til feb 7.

anyway... my 2nd pack started on the 8th of this month (sunday again).... and i missed 3 pills 12, 13, and 14th. i had sex yesterday 14th, when i got home last night and realized i missed the pills i took 2 of them.

and today (15th) i am bleeding again. i just had my period on 4th-7th (period was kinda short and really light) but i am just wondering what's going on?

should i continue to take the pill if i am still bleeding or treat it like a period and start pills again next sunday? i am totally confused about how i should continue to take the pills.... O.o

This happens while your body gets used to the pill. Do NOT stop taking the pills keep them as regular as possible(More important till you settle) .Use back up birth control until you settle. Increase water consumption may help you not to retain water on the pill.

Hope this helps

The break-through-bleeding is probably caused by the swing in your hormone levels. You were on pills, then off for three days then doubling up. Short light periods are common on OCs and what we all hope for, so you’re good there.

You should continue to take your pills as you are supposed to, at the same time each day and the break-through-bleeding will probably stop in several days. You should also use back-up protection until you have been taking your pills correctly for at least 7 days. Missing three pills in a row definitely reduces the effectiveness of your pills. You may be ok, but if I were you I’d consider using EC. EC is most effective if taken within 72 hours of the IC in question. The EC site is http://ec.princeton.edu/

If I were you I’d set up some reminders to help me take my pills on time. The alarm on a sports watch, or a reminder message on your cell phone or computer might help you with remembering your pill time.

Good luck

thx alot for answers.. haven't been able to get reply..

anyway.. i am still bleeding today..

and am taking the pills everyday..

but i am still kinda off on my timing, several hours off today... =(

trying to get more on schedule tho.

took ur advice and set the alarm on my cell phone ^_^

OH... i am also very moody, does taking the pill really affects me that much? i feel angry all the time. i am wondering if its just the pill that's making me so grumpy? or is it possible that my off timing at taking it causes me to have unbalanced hormonal levels or something like that? this is only my 2nd month on this pill, and i still have 2 packs to go... so i am trying to see what will help me moodiness. =(

my doc tells me to breath and that its not normal to be soooo moody during my first pack so she says it might be just me and told me to count to 10 everytime i feel angry... counting doesn' treally work... counting makes me angrier... >_< she said it'll get better after a while... what can i do??

I had that problem while I was on OTC, and finally got my Gyn to put me on something with a different chemistry ( she put me on Yasmin) and I haven't had that irritability/anger problem or btb, sounds to me that you might need to be on another pill. However, not taking it at the same time every day could cause at least the btb. Just my experience and two cents.

Hiya wish,

Yes, bcps can cause moodiness and irritability - but too, it's probably just a matter of letting your body adjust to them and taking them regularly.

Did you start your pills on the first Sunday after your period had started, or in mid-cycle on a random Sunday?
