Just curious. My DH and I had sex a few times right around ovulation. We didn't use a condom until near the end.

Do you think it is likely that sperm were in his pre-ejaculate?

I obviously can't speculate on your husband's health and ability to fertilize eggs, but yes, sperm is present in pre-ejaculate, and many women have gotten pregnant using the method you describe. If pregnancy is an absolute no right now, you should definitely be using the condom the entire time (that is the correct way to use one). Otherwise, you are essentially practicing the pull-out birth control method, which, you might have heard, is not really much of a method at all.

Out of curiousity, how did you know you were ovulating? Are you practicing NFP or FAM? Those are really the only methods to know for sure if you were ovulating. If you were simply counting calendar days, that method is notoriously inaccurate, and there is no guarantee that you were ovulating at all.

Hope this helps answer your question.

No, right now I am not charting, but I do have a very regular cycle and I am intune with my body. I had very stretchy CM and lots of cramping ... yesterday being the worst. Today I feel fine.

I also have 4 other children. I guess I should know better about using the pull out method and putting a condom on last method ... essentially they are about the same. I just recently went off the pill, but really I am not looking to get pregnant. DH will probably get a vasectomy shortly.
