I had a copper IUD put in about 3 yrs. ago. On occassion, after me and my husband have intercourse, he will break out just under the head of his penis with a very red and irritating sore. I don't know if it has anything to do with the IUD and possibly changing the acidity of my vaginal secretions. Just wondering if any else has had this problem. I am going to make an appt. with my gyno to have it checked. I also told my husband to call his Dr. as well. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Lorie

One would think that if the acidity of your vagina was to blame for his penile sore that it would happen each and every time you had sex. Is there any possiblilty that this could be some kind of STD? I would DEFINATELY seek your doctor's opinion because something here just isn't adding up.
I've got a Copper IUD as well and my DF has never encountered any problems even close to this.
Good Luck!

I have heard of strings from newly inserted IUDs being so stiff that they irritated a partner’s penis but they should soften after a few days and wind around the cervix out of the way. The tip of your IUD isn’t protruding from your cervix is it? If he was hitting that I would think you would be very uncomfortable and you would certainly know it. I agree with mattys girl, that I don’t think the ph of your vagina is causing the problem, but I’m not a doctor. I also agree that you and DH should both be tested to see exactly what is causing his problem.
Good luck
