No pill + Condom + No period = Pregnant?

Hello again Ladies,

I posted here about a week ago about being denied contraceptives. It was through a Planned Parenthood that denied me because I am not a resident of the state. I am currently still looking for a place who will get me back on the pill.

However, I have already managed to run into a problem. I asked about having sex and just using a condom (no pill). Well, I went ahead and did it last weekend. I'm worried because I have not gotten my period yet this week. This would be my first period off the pill. We had sex a couple times and the condom never broke or slipped. Typically, I would get my period by a tuesday at the latest and it is already wednesday. Sometimes it came sooner on my last day of active pills. Now that I am off the pill, should I be expecting it to be later? Is there a chance that I could be pregnant? I am worried! Any thoughts?

Thank you!!

Hi Chelsie,

If this is your first cycle off OCs then yes, your period could be late as you body switches back to cycling on its own hormones. The stress you are under could also delay the arrival of AF so I wouldn’t freak just yet. No method of contraception is 100% effective, except abstinence, but I think if the condoms worked correctly you should be ok.

I don’t understand about Planned Parenthood turning you away. Did you talk to the office manager? Isn’t there some reciprocal agreement between PP clinics in the different states? (Does anyone reading this know?) Sometimes, if you talk to a volunteer she might not be familiar with all their policies. Where exactly are you from, and in what state were you denied services by PP? If you make over a certain amount they might want you to pay for their services but I thought they would work with anyone who came through the door.

Good luck

It is New York that is denying me this. In the state that I am from, there is not a planned parenthood within hours of me. It was a family planning health council that gave me contraceptives until I was 18 and now no longer covers me. I currently do not have a job, but am in the process of obtaining a part-time one while in college. (Just had an interview today!)I spoke with a lady that works at the clinic I called. She didn't have much advice to offer.

i don't know what college you go to, (if it's a smaller one, or a CUNY or something, this might not work), but most colleges will offer the Pill to its female students. Do you have a Health Services center you can go to?

It's not a small college. I will stop by there and see what they have to offer.

Thank you!!

Hi Chelsie,

Like Jill, I'm confused that PP told you that - never heard of it happening before!

I am going to school in New York State. I don't know why they wouldn't be able to help either... definitely has me flabbergasted.

Chelsie, DEFINITELY check out your Health Services ... sometimes the prices are even better there than they would be at a pharmacy, and they should (at least mine does) have doctors who can give you your pelvics and stuff (they may ask you to have one before they give you the pills). Does your school offer insurance? I'm sorry if you've answered that in one of your previous posts, but my school offers insurance that you can buy through the school, in which case, school-dispensed drugs are even cheaper.

Let us know how you make out!!

I will be stopping by there sometime this week. I know that my school offers insurance, but it is a package deal, so it is expensive. I hope they have alternatives to the insurance. Thank you again!! :-)

You can click on ‘Outline View’ to the right of the search box at the top of the screen and display all the messages in a discussion or when in ‘Folder View’ there are message numbers at the bottom of each post. You can click on any message # to view that message or on 'next message' to move to the next in the series. 'Next discussion' takes you to the next topic.

Is that what you are looking for?
