getting pregnant while on the pill

What happens if you get pregnant while on the pill, if it fails. I'm just curious. If you don't know, b/c most women don't know the first month, and you keep taking the pill will you just get a fake "period" anyway when the cycle is over? DOes the pill harm the embryo?

I think it’s rare that a woman will have her period after becoming pg. I don’t think there is any harm to either the woman or the embryo if she continues on the pill for a while, though she should stop immediately she knows. Combined hormonal contraceptives are very effective if taken correctly: on time (+/-2 hrs. of normal pill-time), if you haven’t been ill and vomited or had diarrhea within 2 hrs. of taking your pill (that counts as a missed pill) and if you aren't taking meds. or supplements that might reduce the effectiveness of your pills. Does this help?
Good luck
Jill
The same thing happens as if you're not on the pill--you don't get that pill period because when you normally are in your inactive week, your hormones drop from week three to week four, just as they would at the end of a normal (unfertilized) ovulatory cycle.
