Well in my experience, I was told by my dr that for the first 3 months on the pill you could have breakthrough. If it continued beyond the 3 months, they would probably choose another pill. I used to be on Ortho-Novum 7/7/7. I went off when trying to decide whether we wanted #3. After being off for a while, I started having lots of irregular bleeding. I'm going back on the pill to try and regulate. He is putting me on Ovcon 35. He said it would have less of a chance of breakthrough than Ortho-Novum. I'm going to give it a shot. I cannot stand the spotting !! I worry to and it makes me worry every time a see a spot of blood.

I would ask for a new type of pill to try and regulate yourself.

Hi Jenr, welcome!

Why not consider NuvaRing? It is a vaginal ring that has a very low dosage of hormones and is very low maintenance. Just insert and leave in place for 3 weeks, then remove for 1 for your period. That's really convenient if you have a hectic schedule and have a hard time remembering your pill-time.

I hope you find a method that works well for you.

It might also help with the breakthrough bleeding because it's got a lower estrogen dose than OTC Lo.
