Skipping my "off" week
| Mon, 02-23-2004 - 3:00pm |
I am on the patch (ortho evra) and I have my off week (the week I'm supposed to get my period) the week my boyfriend is visiting me. I've heard that to delay their periods, women just continue wearing the patch or taking the pill during their scheduled off week. But I am nervous to try this... Will this affect my cycle and will I still be protected if I do this? Any help on this matter would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes you can change to a 4th patch and delay your period. It works for most women but for some it doesn't and you won't know for sure how you will do unless you have time to try wearing your patchs continuously before you see your bf. It might be a good idea to talk with your doc to make sure that there isn't a reason that s/he would want you not to delay your period. As long as you go no more than 7 24-hour days between patches you will be protected against pregnancy.
