I have been itchy and irritated around my vaginal area for about a month now. at first i thought it was a yeast infection so i tried monistat. that didn't work. my doc prescribed lotrizone - an anti-fungal/anti-itch cream. that helped with the itching somewhat. i got my period last week and was really irritated the whole time. I felt like the flow was "burning" me. I had one or two days of feeling fine; now i am back to just being dry, itchy and irritated. no abnormal discharge, no smell, nothing.
i haven't changed soaps or anything like that.
any ideas? My doc didn't think it was a bacterial infection, but couldn't run any tests because i also have mid-cycle bleeding (this has been going on for years) and it happened to be at the same time i went to see her. i am supposed to go see her again tomorrow.
also I am in a Monogamous relationship.
I should also add, this happened to me once or twice before, docs couldn't find anything wrong, said i was probably just allergic to something. can you suddenly become allergic to soaps or stuff that you have used before?
I am on my 4th pack of Yasmin after switching from Nordette. Could it be related to the switch?

You can develop a reaction to things over time. It is likely that you are having a *slight* reaction from the start, but it is SO slight that you can't even tell. With time & exposure, the levels of the irritant build up in your body & you start to have a problem. Make sure your soaps aren't perfumed, and that you don't use much in that area anyway. Make sure you use a gentle, non-perfumed laudry detergent (especially for your undies) & that your laundry is rinsed well enough. I used to LOVE scented stuff - candles, soaps, you name it. Now, such things can't be allowed in our house - I will start sneezing & getting nosebleeds!!!!!
Good Luck, I hope you find the problem. Allergic reactions suck!
i might try just not washing my undies in it and see what happens. i don't think it is really an infection. YI meds didn't help and none of the symptoms sound bacterially related.
