Skipping pills...

I am on Alesse and I recently skipped my placebo pills to miss a period, but after I began my new pack, I began pretty much a normal period, but a brownish color, at which point I still had about a week and a half of active pills left. Is this normal?? Because it was more convenient to just go ahead and have my period, I skipped my last week of active pills and I am now taking my placebos. Although it is a little late to ask, is this harmful, even if I am not having sex right now??
Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Some women can skip their periods on a pill and others can’t. With a monophasic like Aleese it probably has to do with the amount of progestin in the pill. A pill with stronger progestin would allow you to skip without mid cycle bleeding. Taking your placebos now isn’t harmful. Just be sure that you don’t go more than 7 24-hour days before starting your next pack of pills.
Good luck
