I have been on the depo provera shot for about 6 years and have not had a period. Now i have been spotting for about a month. Is it time to change methods?

Hi twokids, welcome!

That's a really good question to ask your doc. Over time our bodies change so it could be that is what happening in your case.

Good luck

I was on depo for a little while.. 3 shots. it is normal to not have a period at all, have erratic periods... have a continuous period the whole time.. i had a regular period the first month.. nothing at all for the next few months. no sex drive at all after the second shot. it has been nearly a year since i received my last shot and i am still not back to normal. i went 4 months after i was supposed to get the next shot without a period. now, i skip one every once in a while. this month, for example, i was 9 days late. last month i was a week early. i never know what to expect. also, i didn't gain any weight on the shot, like the dr. warned me would happen, but i gained 30 pounds after getting off of it, without any change in activity or diet. i will never use depo again.
