starting pill

I've been going through tremendous stress lately and have not gotten my period since January. I saw my gyn doctor a month ago and she told me to get my blood tested to check my hormone levels. I just called her last week and told her that I still did not get my period, so she made me get another blood test and said something like "Now your progesterone should be tested." Why couldn't she just test it a month ago when I had my blood test the first time? I plan to ask my doctor that question tomorrow (her nurse called my apartment today and left a message, so I have to call her back tomorrow).

I came here because I am curious and hoping I can find out before tomorrow. The message said I can start taking the birth control pill tomorrow to help induce my period. Does anyone know what progesterone has to do with that? I thought you had to get your period first before you start the pill. Can anyone help? Thanks

It's me again...I just read a site where it said HPV also causes plantar warts. I had a plantar wart on the heel of my foot 14 years ago. I was doomed from the beginning! I don't think I'll ever want to get married.

Whoa, sweetie... calm down!

Step back and take a deep breath. What you are reading just backs up what Judie was saying, that this sort of thing is very widespread and there are many, many different types of HPV, some more easily treatable that others. Please talk to your doc. Do you know the specifics of your problem? It may well be that it is easily treatable. Your Doctor should be able to reassure you about that. After you talk with your doc let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck

I guess I am over-reacting. I really don't know anything about my status. I can't talk on the phone at work so my doc's nurse mailed me some info and highlighted "low-grade LSIL /mild dyspasia." I'm supposed to have the colposcopy done towards the end of March after I get my period. I haven't gotten it since January due to stress. My doc told me to start the pill even though I didn't get it yet. Let's hope I get it. Here is anther post I made. I guess I am a little stressed about everything now because of it.

Awww, sweetie, I know it’s rough, and I’m really sorry. Here are some possibilities for getting more information and support. The iVillage STD Board http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhsexdisease has a lot of experience with HPV. You might want to post there for support of women who have been or are going through treatment for HPV.

I’m really sorry that you are loosing your job. Outsourcing is in the headlines a lot these days but it hits a lot closer home when it’s you or someone you know who is affected.

iVillage also has a Job Seekers Support Group http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-wdjobsupport That you might be interested in visiting. Hang in there!

About 6 years ago, I had a doctor (general practitioner) diagnose me with mild dysplasia, had a colposcopy done and had the abnormal cells frozen off. This is what he advised and who was I to object -- I was scared to death. I had 4 years of clean paps then the abnormal cells started to show up again after my first child was born. At the advice of my new female ob/gyn, we waited it out, rechecked in 6 months and it cleared itself up. A few months is not going to make a difference at this point. It takes years and years for those cells to turn into anything cancerous. Unless you REALLY trust your doctor, maybe get a second opinion before you have any procedure done because a colposcopy and cryo.... (whatever the word is, freezing the abnormal cells off) are no picnic to go through. Been there, and never want to go back again!!!

Good luck to you.
