Breakthrough bleeding again...

Okay, so some of you might remember my post a couple of months ago explaining how my period was starting while I was on the last week of active pills. This was when I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I went to the doctor's and she said it was because the level of hormones was too high that week. So, she switched me to Alesse, but had said that they might be too low dose, however wanted to try anyways and told me to return within two months if the problem hadn't been fixed. Sooo, after finishing two packages of Alesse the exact samet thing has happened. I have had no breakthrough bleeding whatsoever throughout the month, just at the end - during the last week of active pills.

I have to go back to the doctor now and she will give me a pill that is in between the two pills that I have already tried, so what I am wondering is 1) if anyone else has had this same problem and 2) what are some common brands of pills that are in between??

Thanks very much

I have had similar experiences with the btb. I began Yasmin two months ago and haven't had any problems with it. I have read here that folks that took Loestrin didn't have a problem with btb withit either. I suspect that is the higher level of progestin, even though they are different types of progestin.

Do I have that right Jill or Judie??!!

(I finally think I am catching on, who would of thought that I would be in a position to be giving advise? I have arrived :)

If your doctor looks at the same reference I am, there are no pills between Alesse and Ortho Tri Cyclen!

I am on the pill levelite and i have that problem , but my pill is monophasiac so its the same amount of hormones all week. My bleeding is usually mid-package and it starts when i forget to take my pill at night and have to take it the next morning. i am going to try really hard not to forget at all this month, but it never did this before when i would forget at night.

Levlite is the same formula as Alesse, it's a very low dose pill, which means that some women may have spotting if they take a pill late.

Okay, so I went to the doctor today, and because it's a different doctor (I'm away at university) she figured that I should wait a third month rather than just two. I didn't completely agree however because the situation just got worse on my secnod month, rather than improving. Anyhow, she agreed to try me on Marvelon. I'm just curious if you all agree with what she did. I"m curious to see whether or not this helps. A two week period is just not doing it for me anymore!

Well, if your previous two pills were Alesse and OTC, I think Marvelon (Desogen) may indeed help.

Judie,

She's not making me wait another month, that is just what she would prefer. So she did give me the prescription to try the new one, because I felt very strongly that alesse was not working (symptoms were getting worse, rather than improving). Soooo, we'll see if this works!

Thanks for your input!
