Hi All!

I had tubal ligation about year & 1/2 ago.

When i went for my gyno appt. I told him about the usual unpleasant periods like I had back in high school & before I had my kids.

He suggested taking the pill to only have 4 periods per year.

I would like to look into this further.

This summer will be my 10th wedding anniversary for my dh & I & we are going away for 5 days & I do not want to chance "aunt flow" showing up, so I am seriously considering doing this.

Any suggestions or comment would be appreciated.

Thansk!

Have a good one!

Hi Trishde, welcome!

Not all women can skip their periods successfully, but many can. I would suggest you try a monophasic pill (one that has the same dose of hormones in all 21 active pills) as they usually work better (than triphasic pills) when taking packs back-to-back without the placebos. It usually takes about 3 cycles to get past any side effects from the artificial hormones and see how well you do on a particular pill. It would be a good idea to begin as soon as you can to see how you do in case you need to switch pills. There is a pill, Seasonale, that has been approved by the FDA for use that way but there is nothing special about it. It is Nordette that has been repackaged in an 84/7 rather than a 21/7 regimen. Many pills have been used over the years for skipping periods so I think the first thing to do is find one that works well for you.

Good luck
