BCP's do help many women with acne (any pill can have this effect, OTC is the only one that's been officially tested to be able to make that claim though).
However, if you're unhappy with some of the other aspects of your pill, keep "shopping around" until you find one that works. I am personally on my fourth different brand in 8 years and am using the new OTC-Lo; it's only been two months, but so far, so good. Good Luck!

I'm new around these parts, hope no one minds me poking in my two cents!
Anyway, I originally went on the pill so I could start using retin-A for my skin. My doctor wanted to MAKE SURE I wouldn't get pregnant while on it, because it can cause bad things for the baby. So he put me on Marvelon, and before I ever even started with the retin-A my skin seemed to be getting better. I thought, "gee, now I don't even really need it". It was nice finally getting the push to go on the pill because we already had two kids and hadn't decided on the third yet. I can't believe I waited that long to go on the pill in the first place. Anyhoo, a while after that I started seeing the commercials for otc and how it was "clinically proven...." so I asked my doctor, (a different one by that time) if I could switch to that one because of the claims. I'm not even sure why, because the Marvelon seemed to being doing a good job, but I guess those commercials got me! So I switched and there was NO difference in my skin. Basically what I'm saying is if you are getting fairly reasonable results with a certain pill, OTC isn't going to do anything greater. Though I've been getting some pretty nasty headaches and started to attribute that to Ortho Tri-cyclen. So we switched me to Alesse, and bang! Acne started getting bad again....grrrrr! (Headaches didn't get any better, so now I'm on the patch...) Already my skin seems to be recupperating thank goodness. I guess it just really depends on whether you are on a typical pill as compared to a low dose type pill as to whether it will help your skin or not. My doctor as well said that most of the pills are pretty much the same in terms of helping that acne aspect.
Express!
