new patch user and miserable

After the birth of my second child last year, I started on Depo but after my second and third shots I had extended (6 weeks +) but very light periods. My doc said this sometimes happens and suggested I try something different.

I decided on the patch and am on my second week, even though the Depo is not completely out of my system. MISERABLE IS NOT AN ACCURATE WORD TO DESCRIBE WHAT I'M FEELING. I'm totally emotional, hate my body, am freaked that I'm never going to lose the 25 extra pounds I put on with back-to-back pregnancies (2 boys, 13 months apart, whom I wouldn't trade for the world) because I just know I'm going to be one of those people who gain weight from the patch/pill. I cried all day Tuesday. This I can handle -- I've read that it takes some time for your body to get used to the hormones.

However, I now have the most horrible itch "down there". In 31 years of life, I've never had a yeast infection or anything like this so I don't know what to compare it to. My doc said the patch would not be causing it but I haven't been on antibiotics or anything else and it seems like too big a coincidence. She wants to treat me for a yeast infection and see if that helps.

Anyone heard of anything like this before? I'm about ready to rip this dang thing off and take my chances.

Hey I totally understand your torment,And i had to many complaints myself just after a few days of the patch,You know your body better than any doctor, and you know whats normal and whats not,I certainly think that the hormones can cause the itching different hormones on top of yours can wreck havoc..Im so positive NOT! sorry,Im not meaning to sound neg- but Youve had 2 kids and lots or hormones are being very unruly, maybe you need a break,or get something different,Ive tried the pills and got sick,I couldnt handle the patch It causes to many problems for me,I couldnt stand being on it another minute, and i couldnt handle going a few cycle agh!pms is enough....we'll just stick with condoms for now,But I would like to check out the nuva ring or yasmin bcp.we have a 14 mo old boy,he is into everything...2 at this age would be so hard, they are very demanding huh,but if your think like them and play play play, thats all they care about but then you get nothing done....so thats why i say a huge full time joband WOW! youve got a full time job.dont be to hard on your self and hang in there...Hope you start feeling better......sorry im not a big help but hopefullyyou can find something better........celena

I have been on the patch for 6 months, and this is my last month. I got a yeast infection for 4 out of the 6 months I have been on it! Like you, I rarely get them, so this has been awful. When I told my doctor about that, she imediately took me off it. I am on my last week and switching to Mircette next month.

Thanks for the help -- I've read a couple of posts about pills that cycle 84/7. Are those generally higher dosage pills or can I get something lower dosage like that? I've also been totally moody, tired and nauseous. I assume a lower dosage might help in that department? I had good luck with Triphasil when I was in college a hundred years ago. Is that a pill you can do 84/7? Is my doctor going to tell me it isn't healthy to only have 4 periods a year? -- Because it sounds like a really good idea to me!

Any knowledge on that subject would be appreciated.

You can theoretically do 84/7 with any monophasic (all active 21 days the same)
