Pill-taking time

I was just wondering if your body will respond differently to bc pills depending on the time you wake up. That might sound confusing, so here is my situation. I take my pills every morning at 8am - that is whether I have to be up at 5am, 8am, or not until noon - my alarm is set and I take them. I rarely have to get up at different times (usually at 8, hence the alarm) but last week I had to get up earlier on 3 different days. I have had very slight spotting the past two days (not to be gross, but it isn't enough spotting to need any sort of panty liner). I am on my last week of active pills, and I've been on OTC for over a year now. I don't really think that it is pregnancy (use condoms most times, always a pull out method) so I'm wondering if my body is just responding differently. I know the pill is most effective when used as close to every 24hrs as possible, but if my body is moving and functioning at different times, could that cause spotting and other side effects?

It shouldn't make any difference as to what time you wake up, so long as you're taking the pill at the same time every day, your body shouldn't be *that* sensitive to the hormones--there's a margin of error included in the dosage of the pills so that they'll work for many women with many different metabolic rates.
It may be that after a year your body's tolerance for the hormones is changing, you might be producing more of your own estrogen or progesterone for whatever reason and a pill change may be
