Day 1 start on patch when switching bc?
| Tue, 03-16-2004 - 9:35pm |
I was going to start on the patch on Sunday, which is my normal start day from when I was on Ortho Tricyclen. However, my boyfriend is in town on Sunday and does not want to use condoms or anything (we're both monogamous and have been tested for STDs and are clean). I know normally with the Day 1 start when you're beginning birth control, as long as you start within the first 24 hours of your period, you are supposed to be okay. My period started today about 10:30 or 11. If I go ahead and put a patch on now, should I be okay or does this only count for when you're just starting birth control, not when you're switching methods. I'm very confused because my gyno indicated that if I started the patch Sunday I would not need backup, yet the patch phamplet thing says that I would need to use backup if I started Sunday even if I was only switching methods of birth contol. Thanks for any help, and sorry if this double posted or anything. I tried to post this a little while ago and it didn't show up.

The patient information for the patch says you have to use backup when you're switching from the pill to the patch?
