i switched from Ortho-Tri-Cyclen to Yasmin due to Ortho was causing major cramps, complete loss of libido and severe menstural bleeding (i had to wear a pad and a tampon)........

well ive only been on Yasmin since the end of January, so im not aware of any effects its had on me yet.

i just wanted to know what kinds of effects any of you had with it, so i'll know what to watch out for.

does this also cause loss of libido?

i noticed that while i was off of Ortho (i was off of it for 3mths before starting yasmin, because i wanted that crap completely out of my system) and during those three months my libido was amazing, now that ive been on Yasmin for over a month im kinda noticing my libido going down again.

and i noticed the claim that it can help with weightloss, did any of you lose any weight?

how long did it take?

ive noticed my engagement ring is spinning around and around on my finger *l*, so im guessing that the only weight it causes you to lose is water weight? it also claims that you have less bloating during your period, now i've only had one period since i started, but i had just as much bloating if not more, is that normal for the first month? does it taper off?

so many questions i know!!! but my body is about to drive me crazy over the past year or so, should i also mention that ive never had a regular period in my life??? only way i found out i was pregnant was due to getting sick at an amusement park!!!!!

any help would be appreciated

I have been on Yasmin for over a year. It is the only type of BC pill I have ever used. I still feel bloated every month, but not as bad. My periods usually last from Tuesday to Friday and are normally light. As far as cramps and weight loss, yes, I still have cramps but not nearly as bad. They used to be so bad I would get sick. Weight loss was my case. I had always heard you could gain weight when you started BC but I actually lost a few. I really like Yasmin alot!

I too was on OTC and had negative side effects and finally after trial and error, landed with Yasmin. My problem was mostly btb, and Yasmin has stopped that. The one side effect that I have noticed is an increase in appetite, I have always fought with my weight anyway, but it outweighs the other side effects I've had on other pills. I don't feel bloated or crampy at all, which is nice.

Well I have been on Yasmin since October. I really don't like homonal Birth control but I have no other choice, my Bf and I use condoms also but they break every so often and I hate the mad dash to Planned Parenthood for the morning after pill. When it becomes over-the-counter I might stop taking the pill. I have cramps still and sometimes really annoying PMS symptoms like tender breasts, cramps weeks before my period, headaches, nausea, and irritablilty, some of these could also be because I am in law school and very stressed out. Another weird side effect is that my breasts are very sensitive and I no longer like having them touched or anything, my bf hates that but what can I say, that's how it goes. I have only noticed this problem while on the pill. Hope this helps, oh and I have gained weight but doubt the pills are the culprit and bloating also happens around period time.
