looking for further information

I'd like to do some more research on the different types of estrogen and progestin in the different types of BC. Is there somewhere I can find that info in "plain english"? I'm curious about what is and isn't working for me, what to try next, what not to try because it is similar to what I've used unsuccessfully, etc. Also, I'm curious about how the hormones affect my body when taken at different levels. Am I fooling myself to think I can sort it all out? I want to go to my doctor knowledgably and not be talked into just experimenting until we find the right thing. I've been unsuccessful with Depo and the patch and hate the thought of taking a pill every day but it looks like my best option at this point. There are just so many out there -- I want to make an informed decision.

Any websites with helpful information? Please attach a link to replies.

Thanks!!!

I have found the following website to be very helpful:

www.fpnotebook.com/GYN85.htm

There are different links on the left side for different topics relating to birth control pills. The problem is that a lot of times the side effects women experience are idiosyncratic. What affects one woman one way, can have a totally different effect in another women. It's more of a trial-and-error method to find the pill that works best for you. But the website I gave you should be a good starting point, and will at least help you understand the theoretical differences between the pills. Let me know if you have any further questions after you check out the website.
