Is any type of "loose bowel movement" concidered Diareah??? I took my pill at 4 today, and had a small amount of loose bowel movement about half an hour to 45 minutes later. Should I worry that it has effected the pills protectancy, or no??? I am about the middle of a new pack of pills probably around my high point of ovulation, help?

Thanks

Hi MrsCarta,

If you have been taking your pills correctly up until now you shouldn’t be ovulating. If I were you I would count today as a missed pill and use back-up for the rest of the pack. Better to be safe than sorry, right? I hope you’re feeling better.

Good luck

i noticed you said your 'high point of ovulation' - i wouldn't worry too much about that because you don't really ovulate while on the pill.

i'm not sure whether loose bowel movement is enough to cause the pill to be ineffective after 1hr 45min. when you have diareah, you're body is dehydrated or trying flush something out of your system that shouldn't be there (i.e. something that upsets your stomach) so it use a lot of fluid to move it out of the body quicker (hense the liquid form) so i think they make the point of saying 'vomiting and diareah' within those two hours after your pill because they are both very quick ways to to get materials out of your body quickly (not giving the pill enough time to do it's job). hope that helps some. i'm sure someone else can give a more direct answer - i would be interested to know the answer too! I have been taking my pills correctly, and on time, maybe one a few hours late, but never two in a row. So I shouldn't worry too much, and just take another pill when I get home, just as if I were to "miss" one and have to double, or take two the next time I take my pill tomorrow?? Thanks a bunches.

If I were you, I'd stick to my regular pill schedule and use back-up for the rest of the pack.

Good luck

What would happen if I were to miss a pill, and totally forget, and just continue with the rest of my pack the next day? Anything?

It depends on the woman. Apparently there have been enough instances of pregnancies after missing just one that the FDA is now circulating for comments OC labeling guidelines that recommend using back-up for at least 7 days after missing a single pill.

Missing one pill completely COULD cause you to ovulate. I have a 9 1/2 year old neice who was conceived after her mother threw up not long after taking her pill.

As Jill has reccomended, you should likely continue on your regular pill taking schedule & use backup for at least 7 days (or the rest of the pack, if that will make you feel better).

I have been on birth control for over 6 years. I have Ulcerative Colitis....it is a disease where you have A LOT of Diarea. I would not worry. I have days like that 85% of the time and my fiance and I do not use condoms. Just bith Control!

Actually, a woman who has diarrhea within 2 hours after taking her pill should count that pill as missed and take the appropriate precautions. The chance of pg may be slight but it is there. I’m glad that you haven’t had a pg scare, but ignoring a missed pill due to diarrhea brought on by illness is NOT a good thing.

So since I did have diarrhea 45 minutes after taking my pill yesterday I sould double up today....Does it matter that I am taking a BC pill that is all the same dose of hormones?? My pill is Levora, and I skip the last seven so I don't have my period, I'll have it again in June. Thanks for everyones replies.
