bleeding during period different now

Hi,
I have been on OTC Lo for a couple of months now (like 3 or 4), but have noticed something....Before going on BC pills, my period was actually really regular: when it came, duration, flow, etc. Of course I had the usual horrible cramps and stuff and irritibility and all that that's kinda expected as well. Now thank goodness the cramps and such are much better, but the flow seems to be very different. First off, it starts like a day or so after going to the placebo pills. Is it suposed to do this? Then it still has traces for a bit once I have started the active pills.
Mainly tho, what I'm questioning is the flow. Now the color throughout my period is mostly brown, thick and spotty (as in not very copious). There's only a day or two of red. But that too is thick (like congealed and stringy/ ribbony) and not that much as before going on the pill. I know that brown just means the blood has oxidized, but still...why is it like that? Is this normal? Is this how it is going to be?
Thanks for any enlightenment anyone can give.

Sounds totally normal to me!
That definitely makes sense. I appreciate the input.
