Hey new here and have a question

I just started my second pack of Yasmin and i noticed when i was on the sugar pills that my stomach was less bloated. Is it possible that the hormones for the 21 days are making me bloated and the sugar pills somehow decrease that? Also does this side effect go away because sometimes i have trouble recognizing if i'm just bloated or gaining weight. I'm thinking of switching to mircette if it continues. Any feedback would be appreciated..THANKS!!

P.S.-Is it okay to skip the sugar pills if i don't want my period on vacation and just proceed to the next pack?

Hi babeedoll, welcome!

It’s not unusual to have side effects from a new pill for the first 3 packs or so as your body adjusts to the hormones. The side effects should reduce in severity over time and usually disappear in about 3 cycles, so you really should give your pill at least that much time before considering a switch. A lot of pill users skip periods that way but it doesn’t work for everyone, so if you have time it might be a good idea to trying to go back-to-back ahead of when you want to, to see how well it will work for you. I’d also let your doc know what you plan just so s/he is in the loop. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?

Good luck

You also may want to wait past the first couple of months before you try to skip your period---while things are still settling down, if you change how you're taking the pill, it may take an extra cycle or two to get a good feel for how you're doing on Yasmin.

Judie, I've noticed that lots of folks that are of have taken Yasmin, almost immediately if they are having adverse symptoms like weight gain, want to switch to Mircette. Aren't the progestins different in these two pills? What are the similarites and differences between the two?

I'm on my third month of Yasmin and it has done wonders as far as no more btb (which was really becomming a problem 2 week periods etc). I can't tell if I am having weight gain as a side effect, OTC really pushed me up the scale so, I can't tell if Yasmin has changed it in any way (other than I haven't gained more weight, which is nice).

Thanks for your help.

To answer your question, I'm not sure why everybody seems to want to switch to Mircette!
