Okay, this question may sound stupid, but it really isn't. On the packet it doesn't say that you have to take your birth control pills with water. But should you take your birth control pills with water or is it okay to take them with any type of liquid? Most medications indicate "take with water." I'm just curious.

I was reading something....I have been on birth control pills for almost a year (a year in May). Well I use to take them on time, but it wasn't until the packet that I'm on now that I started really taking them on time. And I had sex with him the first week of the new packet. But they say that you should not have unprotected sex the first week that you have sex if you are just starting the pill. to sum it all up, would that have affected anything (the fact that for months I wasn't taking my pills on time until this pack)?

It's not like I just started taking birth control pills.

BC + Grapefruit Juice... reduced effectiveness?

When I was on bcp, I took them w/ grapefruit juice many times!

I wonder what the interaction is there...

I don't know a great deal about it (and I don't think there's a great deal of data on it) but let's see what we can find...

Ok, several sites listed here - basically it looks like biochemical studies have been done (considering many drugs; only one study has looked at contraceptive hormones specifically), and it shows that it may increase the level of estrogens/other drugs in the blood stream (bear in mind that relatively high amts of juice were considered in the study; I think it said 4 glasses per day?).
