Spotting and emotional questions 4 pill

Hey everyone. Ok, so I was on the NuvaRing for two months - the first month I had *continuous* breakthrough bleeding, but it subsided by the second month. The ring didn't work out for me so I switched to cyclessa (pill). It's got three different levels of hormones (different each week). Anyways, all was going well until the tenth day, and now I notice that I am spotting/have breakthrough bleeding.

Is this normal when switching methods? Such a pain... :-(

Also, how can you tell if one pill makes you moodier than the next? I've had some rough decision making ahead of me for the past 3 months and so that right there already affects my moods, but I cannot tell how much of it is related to the pill. Sometimes I feel like I cannot put my finger on why I am so emotional... I know every woman is different and cyclessa has a pretty low dose of hormones... but for years I was never on an oral contraceptive and I think it is messing with me some. Any telltale signs for you ladies?

Sorry... I really hate being on bc for that reason. I feel like I'm not quite myself and cannot tell if it is the recent stress in my life or the effects of the pill.

Help! Any advice would be great.

Thanks...

Triphasic pills such as Cyclessa can contribute more to moodiness than do monophasic pills. And, irregular bleeding can be a side effect when beginning a new pill. It usually takes three packs or so for your body to adjust and the side effects to disappear. If you can you should allow at least 3 cycles on a pill to give it good try. Being under stress for several months can certainly impact your moods. The only way you are going to be able to tell what effect the hormones are having on your moods is to stop them for several months or switch to a monophasic and see if there is any change. If you do decide to stop be sure to use another effective method of BC.

Good luck
