I know it takes time to adjust...

I know, I know these things can be normal... but one of my friends said when she started yasmin she felt fine and was not at all effected. I wonder if maybe I still haven't found the right pill (hey, all I can say is I started crying for no good reason in the middle of the day listening to a song that wasn't ALL that sad).
So... I just wondered how you know it is the right pill. I hate that everyone says "give it three months". Great, that is three months of not feeling quite like yourself, and then if that doesn't work, 3 months of something else? So so annoyed. So i could be trying to find the right pill for up to a year, if you think about it, and meanwhile feel really sensitive all the time (I'm already a sensitive girl as it is, I don't know how much more I can handle).

I don't really have anything that helpful to say except that . . .I feel your pain! I just switched from Loestrin to Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. So far, I feel okay but I'm only in my first week on the new pill. I'm dreading the third week, when I had breakthrough bleeding every month on Loestrin. It's a pain, I know but I think if we can wait it out, things will work out, you know? My best friend also experienced no problems when first starting the pill, and she's even on a really low dose. She thinks I'm crazy! Try to be patient. In my opinion, the lower the dose you need, the better. So it might be worth waiting it out to see if your body can adjust to this pill before automatically going to a higher dose. Make sense?

I'm 25 at the moment, so you and I are a bit at different states... :-)
I did try Nuvaring, and ohhhh boy. The first month was quite the adjustment month. My roommate very much noticed my high level of irritation. I mean, I was downright edgy. I also had a problem with it staying put and with breakthrough bleeding. Well the bleeding stopped in the second month, but it kept slipping down so I switched (begrudgingly) to a pill.
I have heard a lot about Yasmin from my friends on it, but my Nurse Practioner doesn't like prescribing it because she says she doesn't like it b/c yasmin advertises that women won't gain weight on it, but apparently it contains a diuretic (that's my only pb with that).
But I have also heard that monophasic bcp are better than the triphasic ones (which is what I am on now). Sigh.
what to do? you can be sure I will keep you all updated...
Thank you ladies so so much.
I've been hormone-free since last June & I'm loving every minute of it! I feel better in ways I never realized I didn't feel myself (until I became myself - off the pills). However, a vasectomy isn't the right answer for everyone! (I'm almost 31 & we're not ever having children.)
I just wanted to offer a little support. Waiting several months to see how your body adjusts sucks - but if you don't wait you may never find something your body can tolerate.
Yes!
