Hi everyone! I've been reading posts on break through bleeding because I've been experiencing it for the 1st time myself. I've been on a generic form of Loestrin (sp) since December and never had any problems. Last month however, the pharmacy told me that the generic form I was taking changed, that it'd be a different name, but still the same pill and same ingredients. I've taken this new pill daily, still continuing to take it, but I've been bleeding for about 4 days now. I'm expecting my period this coming Sunday...and they're ALWAYS normal and on schedule. What I'm wondering is...is this considered normal? Should I call my doctor and ask for a different pill for next month? I also wanted to ask...does it matter that I take the pill at the exact same time every day? I was taking it at noon every day, but then switched to taking it at 6:40 because thats when I get up. However, I sleep a little later on the weekends, so sometimes I miss taking it at 6:40 and take it some time around 9. Is that a big deal..should I set an alarm to take it??

Yes, it’s fairly common to experience side effects when switching between brands of the same formulation pill. And, if your body is very sensitive to fluctuations in your hormone levels then varying your pill-time can definitely make a difference. What this board considers ‘on-time’ is a window of +/-2 hrs of your normal pill-time. If I were you I’d try to pick a convenient time and stick to it.
Good luck
Jill
