What do you think --

I was just wondering if I could get some advice - I stopped taking birth control pills back in December (not really to get pregnant, I was just in between jobs and insurance and my perscription had run out). So I had about a 38 day cycle in January and skipped my period in February and skipped again in March. I've been charting my temps, and they are still pretty low so I don't think I'm pregnant. I'm on day 77 as of this morning! According to my temps I don't seem to be ovulating. I was just wondering if anyone knows what the heck is going on! I know that it takes a couple of months for your cycle to return to normal after getting off of the pill (I had taken it for almost 3 years) but I didn't think I would skip my period two months in a row like this. Any advice? Should I make an appointment to meet with my docotor or give it a couple more weeks? THANKS!

Hi jenand231, welcome!

Were you irregular before starting the pill? If you were irregular before then you might go back to that, or not. What about your other fertility signs, cervical position and cervical mucus? If you have reason to suspect pregnancy you could test. It’s not unusual to skip an occasional period but since you are recently off OCs if I were you I’d see your doc and have it checked out. Be sure to use an effective means of contraception if you’re sexually active. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?

Good luck

Before I started taking BC about 3 years ago I wasn't super regular, I never skipped a month, but I could never tell when AF was coming for a visit, it was always a fantastic surprise ;)

As for cm - I have pretty much just been dry or had the thicker more sponge like cm. I haven't noticed the thicker streatchier stuff that comes with ovulation. I'm kind of new at all of this type of stuff so I'm still not very good at differentiating between the different types. I know for sure that this month I have pretty much just been dry. I don't know the position of my cervix either (haven't gotten the hang of that at all) so I can't really tell if I'm low or high.

I'm married so to be honest I could be pregnant, but I don't think I am just because of my temperatures being so low - if it would help to see a chart of my temps (I have been using www.fertilityfriend.com to chart so if you would like to see them just let me know and I'll give you my username and password) My temps have pretty much stayed at or below 97.39. Should I take a hpt just to make sure? (I just don't want to waste the money especially since my temps are kind of low) Should I wait about another week or two before I go to the docotors or should I go sooner than that? (Today I am on day 77 of my cycle. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP! :)

I’m not an NFP/FAM expert so I’m afraid I’m not much help looking at charts, sorry. Take a look at the NFP board at http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-ppnfp They can probably answer your temp charting questions. If you were a bit irregular before starting OCs then that may be your situation now. I suppose it really depends what you want to do. If you want to get you period started then your Gyn could prescribe something to force your period. If I were you that’s what I’d want to do, but that’s just me. If money is a problem you could check with your local Planned Parenthood clinic. They have means based pricing that you might qualify for. Let us know what you decide, ok?

Good luck
