Switch from OTC to OTC Lo....

I recently switched from OTC to OTC Lo. I have been on OTC for close to 7 years now and on my last doctor's annual check-up, my doctor switched me to the OTC Lo. On the first pack, I didn't notice too much of a difference. I'm now on the second pack and am in my last week of pills (the green ones). I would normally start my period on the second or third day of green pills, but this time I started 3 days early. Normally my periods will last 4 days, I'm now on my 5th day. I've also noticed that I feel bloated and the cramps, which are normally very mild if there at all, are much more noticable. Is this all due to switching from OTC to OTC Lo? I've heard that when switching, I should give it 2-3 months to let my body adjust. Any words of wisdom would be very helpful!

Hi - there's some irritability along with the bloating, but other than that, nothing really different. I really hate the bloated feeling I am feeling this month - the first month I did not notice it. My body has always been like clockwork on the OTC so I expect that after I adjust to the Lo, it will be the same. I can only imagine that after 7 years, my body is asking what I'm doing switching! =)

Hi nancim72, welcome!

It sounds to me as though what you are experiencing are some normal side effects of switching to a different hormone mix. I'd give your body 3 or 4 cycles to get accustomed to the new pill. I think you'll be fine.

Good luck

Hi Jill - and thank you for your reply. I thought that's what it was, but I wanted to hear it from someone else. I will give it a couple more cycles to see how it goes. Thanks again!
