Somewhat freaking out - (trust issues)

But I recently started having sex with my boyfriend, and I'm having trust issues! I freaked out so much that apparently, I accidentally took two pills in one night (I didn't notice until I looked down at the calender and noticed I was a day ahead of where I was supposed to be). Then, I wasn't sure what to do, so I just kept going normally, and then, well, I was uncomfortable taking a whole week off from the pills, I skipped the week of placebos.
I'm nervous, and I need reassurance that what I did wasn't a HUGE mistake and there's a chance I could be pregnant ... but if I am, how would I ever know if I continue taking birth control pills?
Also, tell me that it's okay to take that week off the pills (and go on the placebos) and still not have higher chances of being pregnant.
I obviously don't know much about birth control... 'tis why I'm posting here. Thank you.

Yes, it's totally ok to skip the inactive pills and skip periods - it doesn't compromise the effectiveness in any way, and lots of women do this all the time.
