I'm sure my unhappy posting was one of the ones you saw! I'm calling my doctor today to have her call in an order for my old monophasic Pill. I've been bleeding/spotting for over a month now and I NEVER spotted on any Pill before. I'm disappointed with this--I really liked having a 3month supply and I was saving $ too.

Hi Amanda,

Sometimes it does take a while to stop irregular bleeding on Seasonale. It can take as long as three packs of Seasonale for the user’s body to adjust to the 84/7 regimen. It is very new on the market so there isn’t much long term experience yet. We did have a member post who was in a clinical trial of Seasonale and she loved it!

Good luck

I am on in the middle of my 6th week on Seasonale and absolutely love it. I used to be on Kariva (Mircette) generic and wanted to try something else because I was getting very dry. Seasonale helped for that, but I would say by far the best part is not getting my period for weeks at a time. Luckily I haven't had any BTB, but if you are, I would say to try to stick it out, because it's so nice to not have AF /PMS for months at a time. Good luck!!!

guess Im worried because I dont want to have to fool around with spotting and all the BS that seems to go along with this pill when I actually dont *have* to.

Don't forget that spotting/breakthrough bleeding on any pill is an individual response. As I read it, the reason that there is more BTB when starting Seasonale is that you're trying to skip two periods, right away. Any monophasic pill has the potential to allow you to skip periods by taking active pills from multiple packages back-to-back, but the probability of BTB goes up after your first three weeks of active pills then, too. The more accustomed your body is to a certain dosage of hormones, the less likely you are to have breakthrough bleeding with it...... so, to me, it stands to reason that starting a new pill and trying to skip periods with it right away is a recipie for BTB!!!

If I was thinking of trying Seasonale (I don't use any birth control anymore, so I don't have to fully consider this for myself), I think I would resign myself to the fact that in the first pack (three months), there is a high likelihood of some bleeding - especially after the first three weeks. However, I would try to stick it out, because if these pills work for you, once you've become accustomed to them, you'll have so few periods a year that the adjustment period will have been worth it!

Only you can decide what to do with your body, but I just wanted to offer you my thoughts on the subject.

I agree--we've had women report irregular bleeding with nearly every pill on the market at one time or another, Seasonale isn't going to be any different.

What I can't figure out is this--I've been doing the 4 periods a year thing for almost 3 years now (with my doctor's permission) and never ONCE had BTB. Nada. So I figured I'd be fine switching to Seasonale--less refills, save a little money. But I've bled every day--why can't they make a 3-month pack of pills the same strength/formula as the monaphasic ones that have never caused me any BTB?

Just a thought

Seasonale Update: After having BTB for 3 and 1/2 weeks (it was dark brown, gooey--like old blood--sorry for the graphic description!) I came to the time of the month where I'd normally get a period if I wasn't skipping the sugar pills. Ha! Being on Seasonale--I actually got a period! I tried to ignore the other BTB, but this is an actual period! I am switching back to Loestrin--maybe one day they'll make a 3-month pack with less side effects--but until then--
