I'm sorry for your experience on Seasonale and I hope the Loestrin treats you better!! But I just want to take issue with one thing you said: "they" can't make a pill "with less side effects." It just has to do with how your body receives the hormones. If it was that easy, we'd all be on the perfect pills right now! You can certainly try the 84/7 regimen on Loestrin with your doctor's help, maybe you should try that.

Good luck to you!

Oh, yeah--no I never had any problem doing the 84/7 on the Loestrin--Seasonale was just a cheaper way to go. I'm just surprised I had a problem; I've been on Alesse, Orth-Tr-Cyclen, Triphasil and Loestrin and never had a problem with BTB on any of them (I've been on BC for 10 years)

I went from OrthoTriCylcen to Seasonale at the beginning of the year because I was eager for the 4 periods a year! With my first pack, the first month I had a week of moderate bleeding (I figured it was the adjustment phase, so I wasn't so peeved), and about two weeks later 2 or 3 days of spotting (a tad irritated!). Now, a bit further than midway through my second pack, I've not had a "period" since the beginning of February and no other real problems. I like it, except now I'm in a relationship and plan on going back to OTC so I don't have be apprehensive for three months about if there's been a mistake, you know?! Also, my insurance covers OTC (not Seasonale - $105+ a month out of pocket!) so I only pay like $10 or $20 a month, so I'm kinda liking that too! If it wasn't for the relationship, and if my paycheck was a bit higher, I'd prob stay on Seasonale. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 8.5

Latest update on Seasonale: I have now been bleeding--not spotting or break-through bleeding--for 5 days--I am bleeding now more than I ever have, even from before I started the pill (I started the pill 10 years ago, but prior to that I'd had periods for 7 years--I started at 10) If I didn't know better, I'd think it was a really early pregnancy that had ended--I have heavy flow and tons of clots.

I'm going off Seasonale. I've been on different versions of the pill off and on for 22 years. Seasonale was the only one that made me gain weight and made me breakout. I definately feel better without monthly cramps and migraines, but the negative side effects will make me go back to Mircette.

By the way, I also had frequent breakthrough bleeding and a super heavy period. I've been on Seasonale for 5 months, and I've had enough.

My experience with Seasonale so far has been good. I guess it's because I expected to have the btb, so I wasn't suprised when I got it. I bled for the last 2 and half weeks of my cycle and right through my period. But the bleeding stopped the day before I started my new pack. So far it's been worth it for me.
