Starting ESTROSTEP

my gyn gave me Estrostep today for severe cramps (which i've always had). I got my period friday and missed the first sunday to start, she told me I could start it today. Should I or should I wait until my "first day" or the first sunday after my next period begins? What's your preference? This is my first time taking the pill and although she answered my questions, I'm still confused... well, not confused, just concerned about taking them correctly...
oh, and how many of you who take/have taken this have had side effects? if i gain weight I'll freak! lol

I'd go ahead & start the pills. The sooner you start, the sooner you know if they're going to help with the period symptoms you're trying to escape from. If you really WANT to be a Sunday starter, you could also shorten your inactive week (never go more than 7 - 24 hour days without hormones) and move your start day that way. Remember to use backup for *at least* the first seven days, this board recommends the whole first month - this way, when your period is different from how it used to be before the pill, you shouldn't freak out that you've gotten pregnant!!! It also is a good idea just in case you are late taking some pills while the concept is so new to you. Don't forget that it could take up to three months for your body to become fully accustomed to the pill.
Also, most times, weight gain attributable to the pill is not very many pounds (there are extreme cases of course). Watch how much & what you're eating & make sure you're exercising, & you should be fine!
Good Luck, whatever you decide.
