Did I miss 1 pill or 2?

ok. So I missed Tuesday entirely and didn't remember today (Wed) until about 1pm. At that point, I took both. I usually take the pill at 8am or so. Technically, does this mean I missed one pill or 2? I use TriNessa (which is like Ortho Tri-Cyclen) and the instructions for missing 1 pill are different than those for missing 2.

Your opinions on this little issue of semantics are welcome :). Also, should I be concerned about being protected from this point forward? I've never missed pills like this - worst that has ever happened in the last year is that I've remember late in the same day.

Thanks!

Hi iheartcitylife, welcome!

In my opinion you missed one and were very late taking another. New FDA guidelines call for using back-up for 7 days after missing one pill. If I were you I’d use back-up for at least the rest of this pack. Which pills did you miss? If it was the first one or two that could be worse than if you missed in mid-pack. It is very important that you go no more than 7 24-hour days between active pills in order to retain your protection between packs. If you are becoming distracted you might want to set the alarm on a watch or a reminder message on your cell or computer to alert you to your pill time.

Good luck
