A bit embarrassing IUD question

I have a Mirena IUD and had it placed in Oct. My partners member is a bit long and thick and sometimes I get cramping when we have sex. Almost like he's hitting the IUD or something. Can he dislodge it?..Is he hitting it? Anyone else get this?

I got my IUD in October/03 as well, but mine is the Copper-T. To my knowledge, your partner can NOT dislodge your IUD; the only way for that to happen is for your uterus to cramp severely and expell it on its own. If anything, your partner may be hitting your cervix, which can kinda feel like a dull but very definate pain in your lower abdomen. Since your IUD is all the way up inside your uterus, its pretty much impossible for him to be hitting it. When in doubt, go talk to your gyn. and s/he can help you through it!
Good Luck!

I agree with MG08, your partner shouldn’t be able to hit your IUD if it is properly positioned. You check the strings each month to make sure it is still in the right place, right? If you aren’t sure about the position of your IUD then I’d talk to your gyn. If necessary s/he can do an ultrasound to verify the position. Having your cervix bumped can happen regardless of what method you are using. It happens to me and I wear a cervical cap or a diaphragm. Have you voted in our IUD poll? Thanks for stopping by.
Good luck
