Questions about Pills

Hi,
I started birth control pills for about two months and a half (now i'm on my third pack).Usually I take the pills at 5 PM. Last week, I missed two pills. I took both two pills (missing pills) in the morning and at 4 PM I took again my regular one pill (on schedule pill).
I didn't use back up method when having sex, is it possible that the birth control failed because of that??
And another question;
If I'm not wrong, the fourth week pills is a placebo pills right? which not contain any hormones, so is it safe to have sex at the first day after my period ends even I'm still on that green pills?
Thanks you for the response!!!

Missing 2 pills might be enough to allow you to ovulate especially if you go more than 7 24-hour days between active pills when beginning a new pack. That is why this board recommends using back-up for at least 7 days if you miss pills.
Yes, the 4th week pills are placebos. If you have been taking your pills correctly: on time (+/-2 hours of your normal pill-time) haven’t been sick and vomited or had diarrhea within 2 hours after taking your pill and haven’t been taking medicines or supplements that can reduce the effectiveness of your pills, then you should be protected during your placebo week. However, if you have missed 2 pills this pack then if I were you I would use backup until I had taken at least 7 active pills in the next pack That might be overkill but back-up never hurts and I’d rather be safe than sorry.
Good luck
Jill
