If I stop using the patch (because of the headaches, hives, and weight gain) will I have my period right away?

Hi Kristine,

I just posted this to your question on another discussion. If you stop using your patches without getting to the patch free week in a patch cycle then you might experience irregular bleeding and other side effects until you body purges itself of the synthetic hormones and establishes it's own cycles again. If you can't put up with the side effects then bail, but it will probably be an easier transition if you can get to your patch free week.

Good luck

Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry you are having patch problems. I know weight is a big problem if you are trying to look lovely in a wedding gown in just a few weeks! Two weeks isn't a real test of whether the patch will work for you but given the problems you are experiencing you might want to try something else. If I was going to use a hormonal method I would try NuvaRing. Most members who post about the ring love it. I hope you find a method that will work well for you.

Hugs

Hey Kristine,

I would talk to your doc before stopping the patch...your body has gone through quite a few hormonal changes in a short amount of time, and it may take a few months for you to adjust.
